Welcome to our

website!

Welcome to the Lullaby Guild’s website.  This website has been established to educate the Lullaby Guild family, friends, corporate sponsors, the public and prospective supporters about The Lullaby Guild, Inc.’s membership and mission.

The organization is comprised of twenty seven highly educated, diverse, and professional women whose primary focus is making an impact in the lives of transitional age youth.  Each woman is committed and dedicated to supporting and implementing special programs that are designed to support the educational and social needs of youth residing in the greater Los Angeles area with a range of services and resources to ensure them of achieving greater independence and success.

Initially, the Lullaby Guild focused on finding suitable adoptive homes for orphaned and abandoned babies.  Currently, the organization’s mission is to embrace all youth.  Through the generous support of our corporate sponsors, families, and friends, we are able to support our four major charities:  Children Home Society, The Institute of Black Parenting, The United Friends of Children, and Children Youth and Family Collaborative.  For years, these agencies have provided support and safe harbors to the youth of our city with a wide range of services: adoptions, childcare, educational support, food, shelter, and supporting the efforts of transitional age youth in making a safe and comfortable transition from the foster care system to becoming sustaining, contributing members of their community.

The Lullaby Guild continues to sponsored projects, such as providing Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas toys to needy families, mentoring 5th grade girls at two identified elementary schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District, and partnering with Young Black Scholars to sponsor our own Scholastic Aptitude Test (S.A.T.) preparation workshops for high school students residing in the greater Los Angeles area.

We are proud to announce that we will present our fourth $2,500 Larry McCormick Scholarship Award to a deserving college student pursuing a degree in journalism.  This scholarship is dedicated to the memory and work of KTLA anchorman Larry McCormick, who served as the Master of Ceremonies for the Ebony Fashion Fair for forty plus years.

Additionally, we will award our second $2,000 academic scholarship to a deserving college student pursuing a degree in education in honor of Arcelle Thomas, a retired educator.  The Lullaby Guild is also pleased to announce that it will award the first Ernest Boulton scholarship to an undergraduate student majoring in math or science.

Our major fundraiser, the Ebony Fashion Fair, is fast approaching.  The show is scheduled for Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the Westin Bonaventure.  The luncheon begins at 2:00 p.m. and the show begins at 3:30 p.m.  Information about the show and how you may obtain tickets can be found on this website.

Thank you for visiting our website.  We look forward to your support.
